White blooms against soft green eucalyptus, already arranged and already in its glass vase  nothing to cut, nothing to balance, no floristry required. Fine LEDs are threaded through the foliage, so after dark the whole arrangement glows from the inside out. At 20 cm tall it's small on purpose: it fits the places a lamp can't go.

Light that softens a room instead of lighting it up

The light comes from tiny LEDs spread through the stems rather than from a single bulb, and every leaf and petal in front of them breaks it up further. What reaches the room is warm and low, the kind you leave on while you fall asleep. The glass vase picks it up at the base and holds a little pool of light around the foot, so the glow sits on the surface rather than floating above it.

Leaves and petals that make the light move

Eucalyptus leaves are round, and they overlap in loose layers rather than lying flat. Each one hides part of a light and reveals another, so the arrangement is bright at the gaps and soft where a leaf falls across a bulb. The white blooms do the opposite  they catch the light on the surface and hold it, which is what makes them read as flowers rather than as lamps in the middle of green. Together they give the arrangement depth from every angle.

Small enough to go anywhere, with no cable

Twenty centimetres tall and seven wide: a bedside table with no room to spare, a desk corner, a windowsill, a hallway console, a shelf in a guest room. There's nothing to plug in, so the position isn't decided by where the sockets are. And because the vase comes with it, there's nothing to buy and nothing to arrange  it's finished when you unbox it.

Nothing to water, nothing to replace

Cut eucalyptus dries out and curls within a fortnight, and jasmine drops within days. This one looks the same in January as in June  no water to change, no stems to trim, nothing browning at the edges. Wipe the glass with a dry cloth and lift the dust from the leaves now and then, and that's all it asks of you.
