A dandelion clock lasts about one breath. These hold the shape. Each stem carries a full seed head, and the light sits at its centre, travelling outward along every filament until the whole sphere glows. Slim stems, nothing bulky, no shade  set them in a vase, a bottle, a jug, whatever you already own, and the room gains a small constellation.

Light that softens a room instead of lighting it up

The glow is broken up by hundreds of fine filaments before it reaches you, so there's no point of glare anywhere on the flower. What you get is a soft halo, closer to a night light than to a lamp. It works on a bedside table, a windowsill, a shelf, or down the centre of a dinner table where a lamp would be in the way and candles would be one more thing to watch.

Filaments that make the light move

A seed head isn't solid  it's a sphere of hundreds of separate strands with air between them. The light passes through the gaps and along the filaments at the same time, so the flower reads as bright at the core and dissolving at the edges, with no hard outline anywhere. Move your head and the strands catch differently. That's why it looks lit from within rather than lit up, and it's an effect no solid flower can produce.

Wireless and shaped to your vase

The stems bend and hold, so you decide the arrangement: tall and loose in a narrow bottle, low and wide in a bowl, one single stem on a nightstand. Nothing plugs in and nothing trails, so they can sit on a high shelf, a mantel or the middle of a table with no socket in reach. The one that doesn't blow away

Real dandelion clocks come apart if you carry them across a room. These stay whole in February and in July, need no water, and drop nothing on the table. Dust them with a gentle breath of air rather than a cloth  the filaments are fine on purpose. One thing to know: they're not waterproof and are made for dry rooms, so keep them out of bathrooms and off covered porches.
